Moong Dal Payasam Recipe

 INGREDIENTS : 
  • ½ cup Dhuli Moong Dal 
  • 2 cups Water 
  • 1 tsp Ghee 
  • 1 cup Jaggery 
  • 1 cup Thin Coconut Milk 
  • 1 tsp Cardamom Powder 
  • ¼ cup Thick Coconut Milk
 For Frying : 
  • 2 tsp Ghee 
  • 10-12 Cashew Nuts (divided) 
  • 2 tbsp Dry Coconut (daintily cut)
 PROCESS : 
  • Wash the dal and add it to a weight cooker. 
  • Cook until it turns earthy colored and fragrant. 
  • Add water and ghee to the cooker. 
  • Weight cook for 3-4 whistles on high warmth or until dal is delicate. 
  • Blend jaggery and ¼ cup water in a container. 
  • Cook until jaggery breaks down in the water. 
  • Strain the jaggery water and include the cooked dal. 
  • Add 1 cup of light coconut milk and cook the payasam for 2-3 minutes. 
  • Add thick coconut milk and cardamom powder and cook for one more moment. 
  • Warmth ghee for fricasseeing in a dish. 
  • Add cashew nuts and coconut and fry until they turn earthy colored. 
  • Pour the ghee over the prepared payasam.
